We took some classic 90’s footage from our client, Poway Martial Arts, and turned it into bite-sized clips showcasing different Kenpo karate techniques, perfect for engaging social media posts.
"Oh, he's worked for himself for quite some time... I wonder why he's looking for a job now?
...And what can he do for me?"
Okay, let's answer the second question first, ..because that's why you're here. "And what can he do for me?"
There isn’t much that I can’t learn, or that I’m not willing to learn…
Below are brief summaries of some of the recent work that I’ve been contracted to perform for a variety of small businesses, along with links to a closer look at the work itself.
Web design with WordPress: I’ve created and maintained websites for businesses of varying sizes and industries, using Elementor Pro, Essential Addons, Yoast SEO, and WordFence plugins, to name just a few. Here, take a look at what some of my customers have reported back about me.
Video Editing: For editing videos or short advertisement pieces, I typically use Final Cut Pro and Apple’s Keynote. I’ve edited many videos for live entertainment (full song edits), social media campaigns – short ad pieces, and website background footage. Please take a look at some of my edits below.
Promotional Graphics and Logo Design: The samples below show some of the diversity in the promotional designs I’ve created over the last few years. Working up an idea very quickly isn’t hard for me to do; however, I don’t hesitate to send my idea over to a creator with a more specialized skillset when I realize that the concept can be developed further.
Social Media: These are just a handful of examples of social media feeds and posts from Instagram and Facebook.
Virtual Assistance / Administrative: I worked as an independent contractor periodically between 2010 and 2015 with Virtualize It, LLC. Primary tasks – for several clients – included regular social media posting and curating content for website blog posts.
Regarding my administrative skill sets, a quick anecdote: I’ve successfully filed three separate trademark applications with 100% approval to date from the US Patent and Trademark Office, all without the help of a lawyer. I also have one more trademark currently in application status, awaiting approval. Trademark Registration numbers can be made available upon request.
Now, back to the first question: "Why is he looking for a job now?"
In short – I want to be on a “team” again. I’m involved heavily with my two sons’ sports activities, so staying hyper-focused on multiple clients – and seeking new clients – is not where I want to be at this point in my life.
A further look – It started in the summer of 2010, I was working at Chrysalis Music Group in Beverly Hills, CA during the week and commuting home to San Diego on the weekends. My infant son, Philip, was diagnosed with epilepsy around the same time that my mother-in-law was newly diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. My wife – a clinical psychologist for the Poway School District – and I subsequently decided that out of the two of us, it was necessary for me to transition to be the one at home to take care of both my son and my mother-in-law.
Fast forward to 2014 – I launched my business, Retro Hits Tributes – a company that produces live entertainment groups (bands) for weddings and corporate functions. Fast forward to 2020, I started my second business, Brand Camp Agency, functioning as a small-business marketing operation that builds websites, produces promotional graphics and social media campaigns, and also serves as a virtual assistant service.
As I’ve mentioned, I want to be back on a team, in a team environment. The time is now to again share my creativity and experience with a group that can utilize and appreciate my work ethic and desire to contribute.
If I had to list an “ideal fit”, perhaps it is for me to join a team within a company that’s looking for another member to manage (or help to manage) website design and maintenance tasks, provide SEO maintenance and counseling, take on video/audio editing, and create promotional graphic assets.
I’m available for part-time, full-time, or contract work. My flexibility is wide. I am also flexible with entering salary.
John made us a beautiful website and continues to be a support for my business. Even if I have lots of questions, he's patient and explains things easily. Thanks again John for all your hard work!
